Emi Grate (she/her) is one of the most prolific and most instantly recognizable drag artists in Brooklyn, NY. Born and raised in Mandalay, Burma, she is an LGBT asylee in the US. Throughout her career, Emi has consistently championed diverse representation, community building and avant garde experimentation in drag — sometimes making appearances as drag king Desmond DooDoo.
Emi Grate has been featured in drag shows and events like Bushwig, Oaklash, Sasha Velour's Nightgowns, Brooklyn Museum's First Saturdays, and season 4 of RevryTV's "Queens of Kings." She has held the titles of Miss BK 2018, Miss Brooklyn Pride 2020 and Mx Somebody 2021.
To celebrate her decade-long career in drag, Emi Grate has curated 10 songs in 10 languages from 10 different countries, that have both personal significance in her own life and career, and cultural significance where they originated — and she will be singing live! Come witness this one-of-a-kind drag cabaret that has spent a lifetime in the making, and has crossed borders and pushes boundaries.
